Communication Standards
Radio Standards
Although not required when you join RACES, to be able to participate in all aspects of RACES a member will need to have an amateur radio license and a radio capable of operating in the UHF and VHF bands. RACES can work with you to help you pass the amateur radio license test as well as make suggestions with regard to acquiring a radio.
Power Standards
The Anderson Power Pole connector is our standard for any DC power connection. The connector is available at Allied Electronics or Powerwerx. Instructions for building cables with the connectors can be found here.
Antenna/Coax Connector Standards
The standard for coax termination is the PL259 (UHF) connector. Assembly instructions can be found here.
